DESCRIPTION: Henry Black & Pearl Short Gripoix Necklace: This piece of French jewelry history is incredible! Henry was the jeweler who taught Chanel’s people how to make gripoix gold electroplated jewelry that she is so famous for today! Gripoix is a method of pouring glass by hand to make beads. The black and pearl beads are made of Gripoix. It is costly and time consuming to make, but it has a very special look. You can see how this was the precursor to later Chanel pieces. After working for Chanel, Henry launched his own jewelry line. And this necklace is from his earlier work in the late ‘40s-’50s. In the ‘60s his look completely changed. This necklace is short, very feminine, and classic. Signed and original. Amazing!
